In Mitchell's Magical Day With Frank &
Ivy Stranahan, young Mitchell visits the museum with his
4th grade class and is swept into the past by using his Pop
Pop's magical binoculars. He becomes an active participant at
Frank Stranahan's trading post, witnesses the terrible downtown
fire of 1911, finds himself caught in the fury of the '26 hurricane
and sees Ivy Stranahan at the Pioneer House Restaurant many
years later. All the while, his class is in the present, learning
about the Stranahan’s unique life and their many contributions
to our community.

In Mitchell's Magical
Day on the New River, Mitchell finds himself in the middle
of more exciting adventures as he travels with his family down the
river on the Water Taxi. Pop Pop's special binoculars take Mitchell
all the way back to the 1800s where he meets Will Cooley at his
coontie plantation, soldiers from the original Fort Lauderdale,
the Barefoot Mailman, the Keeper of the House of Refuge on the beach
and Edwin King, builder of the Stranahan House!

Florida's Atlantic Coast
Mitchell and his family are off to the beach for fun, and a picnic.
It doesn't take Mitchell long before he is off on another adventure
with Pop Pop's binoculars. Mitchell is transported back into
the past where he witnesses the perils of shipwrecking on the
Florida Coast, the dangers and excitement of the Caribbean pirates,
the establishment of coastal settlements and the growth of the
Maritime Industry in South Florida.
