Frank's
Office

When the
house was built in 1901, there was no interior stairway and no walls
dividing the rooms. The ground floor was an open area which served
as a trading post and general store. In 1905, when the Stranahans
converted the building to become their home, Frank used this area
on the ground floor as his office. The adding machine and many items
on the desk belonged to Mr. Stranahan.

Washroom

This antique
machine machine with a hand-wringer was considered state-of-the-art
when Frank and Ivy first occupied the house. Wash water was heated
on the wood burning stove and laundry soap was improvised from scraps
of hand-made bar soap.
Where's
the dryer? It's a rope between two trees behind the house!
Ivy must
have been so pleased when the house was finally updated with electricity
and running water.

After Frank's death in
1929, Ivy took in boarders to supplement her income. This room would
have been one of three rooms available to travelers.

By 1915,
the Stranahan's home had been updated to feature all the modern
conveniences of the time, including electricity and indoor plumbing.
Today, the bathroom houses its original fixtures.
